Celebrating Grandparents Day featuring BakerDays*

We always celebrate Mother and Father’s day, but you hardly ever hear about Grandparents day. Grandparents are precious especially my mum Edna aka Glamma. Darcy adores her and without her endless love, support and being a fountain of knowledge I would seriously struggle.

Happy First Grandparents day mum xxx

Now on to the cake….

So when the team at BakerDays messaged me asking if I wanted to review one of their 5 inch personalised letterbox cakes I knew straight away I wanted to send my mum one.

You can personalise the cake by either uploading a picture, adding your own message or picking one of their pre designed cakes. You can pick from a variety of flavours including sponge, chocolate or fruit cake. They also offer gluten wheat free and dairy free so no one misses out.

The cake actually arrived through my letterbox, I don’t know why I was so surprised; after all it is called a Letterbox cake! Upon opening the box I was greeted with cake tin, a card, balloons, candles and even a party blower which was a nice little touch.

The cake was lovely and moist considering it was sent in the post and has a use by date of 14 days. As you can see Darcy couldn't wait to get stuck in to it!!

I really love the idea of sending a celebration cake to a friend or loved one, it makes a lovely surprise.

If you fancy treating a love one to a BakerDays cake you can order online here, cakes start at £14.99 with free postage. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.

Did you celebrate Grandparent Day? What is your favourite cake? I have far too many to pick from

Bloggers Event | #bgomeetup

Now it’s very unlike me to be out during the week, but when James from Joe Blogs Network invited me #bgomeetup, I made an exception I swapped my puked covered clothes for something a little bit smarter and headed down to Kings Cross to their Head Office.

I was greeted with a glass of prosecco and handed £30 of vouchers to exchange for chips.

I bumped into my favourite welsh babe Michaela from cardifforniagurl.blogspot.co.uk we had a bit of a natter over a few glasses of prosecco before heading over to the casino tables.

I had a bit of a YOLO moment on the roulette table and lost all my money within 5 minutes.

Pizza arrived and everyone mingle and out to know each other more and took selfies with a giant inflatable dinosaur and a cut out of Verne Troyer of mini me frame. The room was buzzing and full of laughter.

We also had the opportunity to play the Jungle Trouble slot game - all the winnings on the night went to the the World Wildlife Foundation!

A big thank you to all the Joe Bloggers team for inviting me. Even though I didn’t win any of the prizes I had a amazing evening and met some great people.

Review | Natural Birthing Company Bosom Buddies Breastfeeding Survival Kit*

Breastfeeding is one of those topics that everyone feels differently about and has had different experiences too! When I was pregnant with Darcy I was keen to read up as much as possible about everything so that  was as prepared as I could be! Breastfeeding was something that I kept coming back to, simply because there didn't seem to be a one answer method to any of the questions that I had.

With Darcy I went for mixed feeding, because she didn't always seem to get enough milk from the breast. I am a firm believer in knowing what is best for you and your baby, that method worked for us and that is all that matters. If you are in a similar position, you need to do what you need to do!

If you do decide to try breast feeding then it stands to reason you are going to want to make your life as easy as possible. When I cam across the Bosom Buddies Breastfeeding Survival Kit from The Natural Birthing Company I was really pleased with how the kit worked. Using the kit is easy and it can help your breastfeeding journey in so many ways.

The kit comes with three solutions that you can mix with water to help sooth your sore breasts. I know sore and painful nipples might not be an easy thing to talk about - but if you breastfeed they probably will hurt!

You get "ohh" for engorged breasts, the "ahh" solution for a low milk supply and "ouch" for sore nipples. You also get a pair of organic cotton flannels to help put these on your breasts when you need to (Just as you would expect from The Natural Birthing Company!)

You simply add the solution that you want to the cloth and sit back and relax for half an hour, preferably in a dark room. They're packed with all sorts of essential oils and goodness which can help with breastfeeding, sore nipples and even with helping you to feel calmer and more relaxed. Breastfeeding isn't always the easiest of options but I found that using this kit really helped me with feeling relaxed and 'pulling myself together'.

I love how beautifully presented the kit is, which helps to make it a possible gift if you know a mum-to-be or something you buy yourself. It;s only £29.99 to buy and I found that each of the solutions helped me just as they should! There are lots of benefits to breastfeeding your baby so for me, anything that helps mum through this often challenging time is fantastic and something that I would advocate! This product did just that, and as the only product of its type on the market, it's well worth trying!

Do you have any breastfeeding tips? Feel free to share them here!

Lush Dark Angels

Heya everyone

I thought I would write a little post about one of my favorites cleansers Dark Angels. I absolutely love it for so many reasons and here they are;

  • Its organic and oil free
  • It's works well for my oily and acne prone skin
  • It is exfoliating
  • You can also use it on the body too
  • It has licorice root extract which is an anti-inflammatory
  • It leaves my skin feeling smooth and clean
Since having Darcy my skin has suffered badly from outbreaks and I truly believe Dark Angels has calmed it down a lot. I know my skin is not perfect at the moment but it's getting there.

So here's my little review, I thought I would share this with you because I feel like its not a much talked about product.

Have you tried this cleanser? What is your favourite cleanser?

Review | Mr Nutcase phone case

Check out my new custom phone case I've just received from Mr Nutcase!

I'm not going to lie my old phone case had seen better days, full of scratches and wear and tear from being at the bottom of my bag. My sister has been nagging me for months to get a new case.

So it was perfect timing when Mr Nutcase asked me to review one of their cases.

I didn't go the typical route of choosing pictures, I wanted something chic and sleek as a treat for myself. I went browsing on the internet and found this pattern. Anyone who knows me will tell you I love me some Chevron, and  added with some glitter made it extra perfect.

I chose the Executive Flip Leather style which retails at £19.95, as I prefer my screen to be protected.

The whole process was so quick and simple. You can either pick from one of their pre made designs, or upload your own photos onto one of their many templates. It only took 5 minutes to complete and I received my specific case two days later.

I really love how it's turned out, it's even better than I was expecting! I would definitely recommend getting a case from Mr Nutcase.

With Father's Day round the corner, this would make a perfect personalised gift.

Mr Nutcase have been amazing enough to have given me a 10% off code to share with my readers! All you have to do is enter Thanku10 at the checkout

Have you got a personalised phone case? Would you pick pictures or a pattern?

#Morning Stories with BelVita

At the moment we don’t have a typical morning routine, Darcy rules the house (for the time being). However on Saturdays we always try and make the most of our day.

Darcy’s dad works 6 nights a week so Saturday is the only day he’s really around. Our morning starts with Darcy giving us big smiles, She’s always so cheerful in the morning. She then has some quality time with daddy. At the moment that involves them watching Stargate Atlantis on Netflix, which surprisingly Darcy loves.

Whilst they are watching that, I go down stairs and make Darcy her bottle. T gets a full English because i’m so good like that.  I'm not going to pretend that I eat a sit down breakfast every day. I am normally too busy to think about eating anything. This is when belVita comes in handy. I accompanying them with a yogurt, a piece of fruit and a mug of green tea.

If i’m feeling a little fancy I crumble a few biscuits into a bowl of greek yoghurt and top it off with lots of fruit it is like eating a cheesecake and if you’re on Slimming World you can eat all of that goodness for only 3 syns!!.

We normally have our Saturday breakfast in bed together, not ideal for everyone, but we enjoy it.

We then give Darcy a bath together, which ends up with us getting very wet. Darcy really enjoys her baths and loves nothing better than getting Mummy and Daddy wet whilst splashing away.

Once we are all washed and dressed we always go for a walk in the park. Each week we find a new park to explore. I really enjoy getting some fresh air and exercise. And Darcy loves "people watching" as she is so curious. Every time someone walks past her she always follows them around until they are out of slight.

T always treats me to a coffee, we always have a catch up and discuss our plans for the following week.

BelVita breakfast is the only breakfast biscuit proven to slowly release carbohydrates over four hours as part of a balanced breakfast, which is much better than grabbing a muffin or doughnut.

BelVita breakfast biscuits are available in 13 delicious flavours. As a Britmum blogger we were sent 3 to try, Fruit & Fibre, Milk & Cereals and Yogurt Crunch.

The Yogurt Crunch with a creamy live yogurt filling cocoa biscuits was my favourite as it is naughty and healthy at the same time, and apparently T’s also as when I went to get another pack I found just a empty box!!

So that is our typical Saturday morning routine. What are Saturday mornings like in your house?

Review | Nonabox

If you haven’t heard of Nonabox before they are a monthly subscription box full of specially selected products, chosen to reflect what stage of motherhood you are in from pregnancy to the first two years of your baby's life.

I have read good and bad reviews on the Nonabox in the past. When I saw they were offering 30% off I thought what a great opportunity to try the box at a reduced rate of £17 instead of the normal £25.

My Nonabox included the following
  • Snooze Baby Sweet Dreaming - RRP £12.95
  • MAM First Tooth Brush - £3.50
  • Mega Blocks First Builders Block Buddies - RRP £ 2.99
  • Organic Babies Body Wash and Shampoo - RRP £ 7.25
  • Arbonne Intelligence Rejuvenating Cream - RRP £29.00
  • The Soother Company Soother - RRP £5
  • Neuner's Organic Nursing Tea - RRP £4.49

Snooze Baby Sweet Dreaming - lovely and soft, Darcy loves nuzzling up to it

MAM First Tooth Brush - Age 6 months + so Darcy will have to wait a little bit longer to use it

Mega Blocks First Builders Block Buddies - Age 1 - 5 years so given it to Darcy's half brother

Organic Babies Body Wash and Shampoo - Scented with Mandarin and Lavender

Arbonne Intelligence Rejuvenating Cream - A little bit too thick for my oily skin, but left my skin soft

The Soother Company Soother - They offer personalise soothers on their website. Will defo be getting Darcy one

Neuner's Organic Nursing Tea - Everyone knows how much I love herbal tea, however, this was not to my liking.

Overall my first experience of a Nonabox has been hit and miss.  Darcy is unable to use most of the items, It is also rather gender specific toward boys, despite the information they requested at the time of ordering. However for the price the Nonabox is great value for money, however, they need to ensure that the box is specific for the requested age group.

I’ve been in touch with Nonabox and they informed me that some products they send out are meant to be kept for when a child is little older and future boxes will continue to be tailored to their age. Which was something I didn't think about. I have signed up for another month and looking forward to see what we will receive.

Have you ordered a Nonabox before? what is your favorite monthly subscription box?

Haul: Forever21 Plus Size

Last Saturday I headed down to Westfield Stratford for a day shopping and lunch with a few blogger babes.

I have to admit I haven’t been much of a fan of Forever 21 in the past, The last time I went there didn’t have much of a plus size range in store, and what they did have was very casual. HOWEVER the store has had a revamp and the plus size range on offer is bigger and better than before. I have to say I was really impressed with what they had to offer and was spoilt for choice.

Spotlight Scuba Knit Dress
I love the fit and the shape of this Scuba dress so much so I got it in 2 out of the 4 colours. I picked the bright colours as I feel they bring out the richness of my skin tone, and at only £12.75 it is a complete bargain!

Garden Goddess Maxi Dress
I fell in love with this maxi dress from the time I saw it on the hanger. Its elasticated and slightly sheer. I can’t wait to wear this on a lovely summer day with a pair of flip flops.

Striking Laser Cut Crop Top
I wasn’t too sure about this crop top when I saw it on the hanger but Micheala insisted that I tried it on. Its a lovely thick material and not too short. I especially love the laser cut  detail.
