Spirit of Summer Fair 2014

The Spirit of Summer Fair in association with House & Garden, returns for its 6th year at Olympia London.

The spirit of summer has more than 600 stalls under one roof, most of which offer items that cannot be found on the high street. The event offers items ranging from interior and decorative accessories, soft furnishings, fashion for all of the family, perfect summer gifts and gourmet food & wine.

Highlights of the fair include everything from Champagne tasting with Francoise Perretti to flower arranging with Phil Hammond.

In-between browsing the stalls why not take a pit-stop at Mosimann's pop up summer restaurant or head to the champagne bar for a glass of bubbly or Pimms.

The Spirit of Summer Fair London event takes place from Wednesday 15th May - Saturday 17th May 2014  10am - 6pm. Tickets for adults are £16.00 in advance; for kids aged 13-16 years cost £8.00. Children 12 and under go free.

Head over to their Twitter and Facebook to find out everything you need to know!

Don't want to miss out on a exciting day of shopping and tasty goodies? Be sure to visit my blog in the next few days for a exciting competition to win two tickets to Spirit of Summer.

What I wore | Scarlett & Jo Black 2 in 1 Floral Prom Dress

I really wanted to share this very beautiful Scarllet and Jo dress with you. I fell in love with it after seeing Naomi from Diamond and Pearls wearing it.

The material of the top half of the dress is stretchy and thick. One of the best features of this dress is the thick elastic band which brings me in at the waist. I couldn’t get over how small my waist looked and loved the hour glass figure the dress gave me. I love the feminine petticoat which gives the dress the 50’s prom dress feel.

I accessorised the outfit with simple mirror necklace from Topshop, my favourite pink clutch I bought from TK Maxx a few months ago and some peep hole flats from Evans.

The dress is available from Evans for £60 in UK sizes 14 - 32.

#BYOM event: Not On The High Street

I attended the #BYOM (Bring Your Own Mum) event hosted by Not On The High Street and Mumsnet to celebrate all things mum orientated. It was my first opportunity to spend quality time with my mum since I've had Darcy, which made it a even more special occasion. We got glammed up, threw on our glad rags and headed to the rather beautiful
No 5 Cavendish Square where the event was held.

After being welcomed with glasses of champagne and cocktails, I got all snap happy before heading over to the photo booth. Mum and I had such a giggle trying on the props, mum rocked that blue hat!

We met Holly Tucker, founder of Not On The High Street and she was very welcoming and enthusiastic about #itsamumthing. Despite probably being the most in demand woman in the room, she spoke to us and my mum nattered away about her love of all things NOTHS and the items she had bought previously from the site.

There were so many beautiful items showcased in glass boxes. Highlights included the glitter clutch bag and floral telephones.

The evening commenced with Holly giving a touching speech about her Mum; noting that without her support and encouragement she wouldn't have achieved what she has today. Her words really resonantated with me because of all the support and guidance my own mother has given me.

Odette Toilette followed with a scented trip down memory lane.We sniffed and passed perfumed feathers around the room whilst she explained the history behind each scent. Odette offers unique fragrance experiences of which more can be found out about here.

Shappi Khorsandi entertained with her funny anecdotes regarding motherhood. The whole room could related to her tales and mother and I cackled along shamelessly.

Not On The High Street offer a wide range of items that would make gifting on Mother’s Day very easy (once you've made the hardest decision of which to pick!). They also have A Man’s Guide to a Successful Mother’s Day, so there will be no excuses for panic buying wilting bouquets from the petrol station (hint hint Terry).

A massive thank you to Not On The High Street and Mumsnet for inviting mum and I to have a special evening out together. We both really enjoyed ourselves.

Little Face of Venture Competition

I might be biased but I am pretty sure that Darcy has a face for modelling, though I expect all proud mums think that. I recently stumbled across the Little Face of Venture competition and it sounds pretty exciting.

In case you don't know, Venture are a photography company that offer some amazng photography experience packages. I have looked into getting some professional family photos taken while Darcy is still young and they are a brand that comes recommended time and time again.

To enter the Little Face of Venture competition you just have to purchase a full family photography voucher and then enjoy your photography experience with them. I have read some good reviews about these days and I have no doubt that you and the family will have a good time. Your photographer will then (with you) choose the best one to go onto the Little Face of Venture website. You have to enter before the 23rd May and then people will be able to vote for their favourite right up until 6th June - best to get your friends and family on board for the voting period then.

What I liked about the competition was the fact that for every child who enters, they donate £1 to the WellChild charity - which is a great cause!

The winning child gets a years modelling contact with MOT models (YAY) as well as 12 months worth of shoes from Start-Rite and an exciting set of toys from Lego.

It all sounds great to me and if you're thinking of taking part in some professional family photography, it is well worth looking at taking part. Check their website for more details.

What I Wore | Simply Be Mesh Prom Dress

On Saturday I had not one but two parties to attend. The first one of my oldest friends Chanelle’s leaving do. She is being very brave, sold all her personal possessions and going to travel the Caribbean for a year by herself. I’m extremely proud of her for following her dreams. The second was my friend Karina’s birthday at Reflex, Two totally different events.

Myself and the birthday girl Karina

I was looking for a dress that would fit the bill for both parties, then I found this beauty. Being 5’10 I chose the dress in the tall version, the length is just right and very flattering. The top is stretchy which ensure a good fit around the bust. I'm in love with how floaty and girly the dress is!

Simply Be have lots of pretty dresses at the moment, definitely worth checking out. This one can be brought here.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend

What Darcy Does: Her First Time At The Park

This is the first post in my "What Darcy Does" series, where I blog about all the things Darcy and I get up to. She's growing so quickly and I really wanted to document all of the fun & exciting things that we do together.

This morning I woke up to the sun beaming through the curtains and I knew instantly that I wanted to take Darcy for her first trip to the park and make the most of the beautiful weather.

We had such a lovely time. Darcy was very alert, taking in all of her surroundings, so much so that she cried when we put her back in the pram.

T and I nattered over coffee and a hot chocolate about how excited we were to see Darcy growing and all the fun places we wanted to take her over the summer.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the weather continues to be as stunning as today throughout the next couple of months. I for one am really excited for more family days out in the sunshine.

The 99p Yours Dress Challenge

A few weeks ago Debz of The Not So Secret Diary of a Wannabe Princess fame alerted me that Yours Clothing were selling 5 dresses for 99p. Cheap plus size dresses, of course I couldn't resist and I snagged this navy polka dot dre

On arrival, I wasn't too keen on the dress (I probably should have sized down) but with a statement necklace and gold belt to highlight my waist it really changed the feel of the dress. I love how versatile the dress is, especially dressed down with a scarf and my ever faithful leather biker jacket.

Debz came up with the brilliant idea to create a 99p dress challenge to showcase how the 5 frocks can be styled and these are the lovely ladies taking part:

George @ Asda SS14 Press Event

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to attend the George @ Asda spring/summer collection preview.  As you know from previous posts, I am a fan of the George range, so I felt especially privileged to go along..

I attended with my blogger partner in crime Debz as we perused the showroom, we lusted over everything. The SS14 Collection was really fun and exciting. There were lots of bright juicy colours, vivid prints and metallic pieces.

I loved their accessories especially the sandals and quirky bags. I hamy eyes on these fruity little numbers (surely 2 of my 5 a day?).

The men's collection were laidback and cool, I can definitely see T rocking this denim shirt.

I was especially taken with how cute the kids’ collection was. I loved the prints and denim; I think Darcy is going to be very well dressed this summer!

I wore my 99p dress from Yours Clothing, but more about that tomorrow.

So what do you like from the new collection? Are you an avid fan of supermarket clothes ranges?
