What Does Darcy | 18 Months Update!

One and a half years old, another six  months and Darcy will be two. Icaramba!!
She is wearing 18 - 24 months clothes, size 6 shoes and is 32 inches tall. I have not got her weighed for a little while.

Darcy has been super fun, extra silly and all around a joy to be around.  Every day I am amazed at how fast she learns new things.

Diet Darcy always clears her plate, people are always surprised by how well she eats. I always try and make sure she eats a healthy diet with not too much sugar. However, her Daddy treated her to a McDonalds milkshake the other day and she loved it, especially sucking on the straw.

Her new thing is anything spicy, which worried me as I wasn’t sure if her stomach could handle it, but I had nothing to worry about.

Sleep Well we have gone from two naps a day to one, and it tends to be rather late in the afternoon that she has it. Darcy is spending much more time in her cot and I have pushed her bedtime forward an hour, which is a step in the right direction.

Loves
To use everyone legs as a slide
Small Potatoes, especially the Conga episode we have watched it many times
Kicking her football
Brushing her hair, after Mummy has styled it!!
Splashing in her paddling pool
Giving high fives
Going for Walks
Emptying out Mummy’s handbag

Hates
Being in her pram for longer than 10 minutes
Being told No!
Bacon

Milestones Darcy's vocabulary is growing, "football, please, cheese, bye bye, hat" and probably a couple of more words that I cannot think of. The other day her Grandma was blocking her way so she told her “ I go there!” She has most definitely turned into a chatterbox, I cannot wait till she starts talking properly.

Darcy understands when you are talking to her and follows certain commands like when you ask her to sit down or to help tidy up her mega blocks by putting them into their bag. When her Great Grandma asks her “Who’s a lovely girl?” she replied meeeeeee.

She has recently learnt that pigs snorts, and everytime she see Peppa Pig on the TV she snorts.  It’s actually rather cute.

Out & About | The Beach at Brent Cross

A little birdie told me that Brent Cross had a beach and Fun fair, so we rocked over armed with a bucket and spade to investigate.

The Beach at Brent Cross Situated just cross from the shopping centre, we were greeted by a friendly security guard, then laid like we were in Hawaii as we entered. Entry is £3 per person and the beach stays open each night till 10pm.

There is definitely a seaside feel, with an amusement park with fun rides for all ages, Punch and Judy shows, food stalls including old favourites fish and chips to Indian. There is a massive pool and sand area and of course a bar.

If you are planning on making a day of it, I suggest you bring along a picnic as the food is a little expensive if there are more than one of you. T had a duck roll which cost £4 and Darcy and I shared a rather delicious snow cone which was £2.

Ride prices range from 2 - 3 tokens for small ride and 4- 5 for the larger thrill seeker ones.

There was such a good vibe, lots of children running around the beach and making sand castles, love birds soaking up the sun on deck chairs and lots of friends catching up and having a laugh, and it even more special due to the recent hot weather we have had in London

Darcy definitely enjoyed the sand, throwing sand all over me and herself and T got rather competitive trying to win her a soft toy which he finally did!!.

I didn’t know till after we went, that Groupon has a deal on for the beach. £11.99 for entrance for 1 and 15 tokens which is not bad at all. Check out the deal here , be quick however as the deal has limited availability.

So if you are looking for something to do in the next coming weeks, I recommend going and having a look. We will definitely going back!!

Turtle Bay | Walthamstow

Hands up if you love Caribbean food?, in my personal opinion no one cooks it better than my Grandma oh and my Mum of course. A friend informed me that Turtle Bay had opened in Walthamstow, which is  part of the new cinema complex at the top of the High street and I knew I needed to go and check it out.

A short walk from Walthamstow station, you will find brightly coloured Turtle Bay. T and I have a little tradition that we take Darcy out for lunch once a month, catch up and have some family time.

Turtle Bay has such a great vibe, we went about 1pm and the restaurant was very busy. We sat down and had a cheeky Mojito Cocktail as they were 2 for 1, whilst we browse the menu listening to some soca and reggae in the background.

For our starters we decided to share a Beef Patty and some ribs, to quote T “the patty was to die for man”. In all honestly it was rather nice with the right amount of spice and the ribs were soft and just fell of the bone.

For our mains I opted to get Darcy a cheese burger from the childrens menu which she shared with T as it was massive, T choose the jerk salmon and I went for one of my favourite dishes my grandma makes brown chicken stew.
My brown chicken stew was delicious, it also came with fried dumplings which I love love love!. T enjoyed his salmon and I have to say the sweet potato fries which came with his dish were the best I’ve ever tasted, even Darcy kept reaching over the table to help herself to them.

I love the fact that they have a open kitchen, it's fun to see the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and all the yummy food being cooked.
I was so impressed with the food that I called my mum and asked her if she wanted anything from the take away menu. She choose a Chicken Roti Wrap and T couldn’t leave without another patty. You also get 10% off if you order off the click & collect menu.

Turtle Bay is very child friendly, plenty of room to park buggies, step free access and a roomy changing room. The staff we’re great with Darcy, I was also really impressed with their children activity pack.
I can’t say anything bad about the place, the food was well cooked and the staff were friendly and attentive.  Our only regret was that we didn’t stay and have dessert as there were a few that caught our eye on the menu. I cannot wait till my next visit to Turtle Bay.
