Jack And The Beanstalk at Millfield Theatre

Now that Christmas is over, you are probably asking yourself should I bother going to a Christmas panto? The answer is obviously Yes! and Millfield Theatre's legendary pantomime is here- bigger, better and more bonkers than ever!

This year's Christmas extravaganza is Jack and the Beanstalk, written and directored by Marc Day. The panto follows Jack, his brother Simon and their Mum Dame Dottie Trott face the very naughty Fleshcreep (henchman to the Giant Blunderbore) and save his sweetheart Jill.

Darcy and I were lucky enough to see the show, and we loved every minute of it.

This bonkers panto spectacular is full of beans, with fantastic song-and-dance numbers. I also loved that they included landmarks of Enfield. The giant was also a pleasant suprise.

We laughed and danced throughout the panto, and Darcy has decided she wants to become one of the Junior Ensemble.

On Friday 29th December at 5pm there will be a relaxed performance. This is specifically designed to welcome people with an Autistic Spectrum condition, learning disability or sensory and communication disorder.

All performances are 2 hours 15 minutes long, and include a 20 minute interval. Don't miss out on the fun. Jack and the Beanstalk is on until the 31st December 2017, you can buy tickets here

Our Christmas Eve Routine*

Happy Christmas everyone! It’s finally Christmas on Monday and we are so so so so SO excited for the big day, but I think I love Christmas Eve probably just as much as Christmas Day; so I thought I’d share  our Christmas Eve routine.

It starts off with Darcy waking me up at silly o'clock, we open the last door of her advent calendar, then she get stuck into her Christmas Eve box, It includes a festive DVD, movie snacks, new PJs, a bath bomb and a plate to put Santa's treats on. Darcy has fallen in love with silver Light up Wooden Star, its battery operated as well.

We spend the afternoon facetiming friends and family, and Darcy and her Grandma have their annual Christmas Bake off. This year it was minced pies, whilst I try to do my last Christmas shopping and wrap up all her presents.

We then settle down to our Christmas Eve buffet, because I'm going to be completely honest, I don't have the time or energy to be wanting to cook, especially knowing the next day, I'll be stuck in the kitchen for half of the day.

Christmas Eve, is not Christmas Eve without watching some Christmas movies, our favourites are Elf and The Grinch. We snuggle down into freshly washed festive theme duvet covers. This year it's these reindeer brushed cotton set, they are so warm and cosy and goes well with my faux fur throw. JD Williams have some lovely homeware bits at the moment. There's normally a bit of pouting as I won't let Darcy have all the strawberry crème chocolates, they are my favourite after all.

Darcy then has a bath with the bathbomb from her Christmas eve box, I always choose Luxury Pud from Lush as it has lavender in it and helps her fall asleep easier, we leave Santa his treats next to the fire-place and head to bed to read Santa Is Coming To Enfield then it's finally bed time and I can have a cheeky Ameretto and cranberry juice.

How do you and your family enjoy Christmas Eve? I hope you all have the most magical day tomorrow and get everything you could possibly wish for.

The lovely Emma from Life According to Mrs Shilts  and Rachel from Word of Rachel have tagged me in the very festive Christmas tag, so let me share with you all the Christmassy things that I love.

What’s Your Favourite Christmas Movie?
Hmm... this is a tough one,but is has to be Elf. You couldn't help fall in love with Buddy, his inocconece and Christmas spirit is just infectious. I have lost count of the amount of times I have watched it. I went to see Elf the Musical at the theatre a few years ago and it wasn't anywhere as good as the film.

Have You Ever Had A White Christmas?

I had to ask my Mum as I couldn't remember, and apparently I have had a white Christmas. Fingers crossed we have one this year, as Darcy has put it on her Christmas list.

What Is Your Favourite Christmas Song?

Pop songs it has to be Last Christmas by Wham, I've grown up listening to it,and there is Mariah Carey, All I want for Christmas, I am forever trying to hit those high notes.

Do You Open Any Presents On Christmas Eve?
No, we do not open our Christmas presents until after breakfast Christmas morning. However Darcy does have a Christmas Eve box that she opens on Christmas Eve and it keeps her entertained for the whole day. It includes a festive DVD, movie snacks, new PJs, a bath bomb and a plate to put Santa's treats on.

Can You Name All Of Santa’s Reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen and of course Rudolph.
Look how small she was

What Holiday Traditions Are You Looking Forward To This Year?
A visit to see Santa in his Grotto, each year Darcy, myself and her dad go to our local gardening centre and she picks a new Christmas decoration. When she moves out I'm planning on giving them all to her so she can decorate her first tree in her first home.  Even though her fagther and I are not together,  I think it is important that we do things together as a family and create memories. We also do lots of Christmas baking and watch a lot and I mean A LOT of Christmas movies.

Is Your Christmas Tree Real or Fake?
I'm sorry but the frugal in me will not allow myself to buy a real tree, Darcy has been bugging me for a real one. So maybe next year....

What Is Your Favourite Holiday Treat/Food/Sweet?

Pigs in blankets and mince pies, which I'm going to try and make myself this year.

Be Honest, Do You Like Giving Or Receiving Gifts Better?

It's all about giving for me, I've been buying presents throughout the year. I like giving gifts more because i love seeing someone happy especially because I have given them a gift. To me, that smile on their face is already enough to pay me for what I have given.

What Is The Best Christmas Present You Ever Received?
A laptop from my Mum a few years ago, I had a rather crappy year and my laptop at the time died on me. I wasn't expecting it and let's be honest it's a rather expensive present, so I may had cried a little.

What Is Your Dream Place To Visit For The Holiday Season?

I really want to visit Disneyland Paris during the Christmas period. I've seen so many pictures and it just looks so magical.

Are You A Pro Present Wrapper Or Do You Fail Miserably?
I would say I'm almost a pro, I used to drive my Mum crazy, as I would never fold the edges properly lol.

Most Memorable Christmas Memory?
Being pregnant with Darcy, I couldn't enjoy my Christmas dinner due to sickness and everyone kept telling me they thought she would come on Christmas day. So was on tender hooks all the time waiting to see if she would arrive or not. She turned up being 10 days fashionably late and me being induced.

What Makes The Holidays Special For You?
Everyone is generally in a good mood, I love spending time with my family and friends and sitting down and appreciating what and who I have around me.

So that's my Christmas tag, now I tag;

Our Travel Bucket List for 2018*

I'm all about making memories and now that Darcy is almost 4, I think it is the perfect time that we grab our passports and start travelling. I know she is desperate to go on a plane and I really want to go on some adventures with her.

So where should we go?

A think Greece would be the prefect first holiday for us, the flight is not too long, it's affordable, the weather is good and I hear the food is delicious. Destination2.co.uk offers luxury Crete holidays that look great!I would love to visit Santorini, I've seen so many pictures of Instagram it just looks perfect.

From the stunning architecture of Gaudi to a delicious evening filled with tapas, Barcelona is a must see destination. Definitely try to be in Barcelona on the 23rd of April, as it is St Jordi's day (the Patron of Catalonia) and the streets are filled with book stands and rose stands. Have a stroll down Las Ramblas or even better in La Rambla de Catalunya a, and buy a rose to your beloved one (their version of Valentine's day).

Darcy loves nothing better than travelling on the train, so imagine the fun she would have on a sleeper train to Scotland. It would also make the jounery easier, No "are we there yet? or I'm bored". I really want to visit the iconic Edinburgh castle, walk down the Royal Mile and a eat one of those famous deep fried Mars bar.

Walt Disney World
We are Disney mad and after taking D to Disneyland Paris for her third birthday. I really want to take her to Walt Disney World. I hear Christmas is amazing there and I can't think of a most perfect place to spend Christmas than the most magical place on earth.

When we visited Disneyland Paris we did not get a chance to explore any of the city. I would love to go back and Buy a Paris Pass and visit some of the famous landmarks. Climb up the top of the Eiffel Tower, visit The Notre Dame and drink hot chocolate at Angelina's.
