A few weeks ago, Darcy and I treated her Dad to a Father’s Day meal. I have spoken before how I feel it is really important for us to do things as a family even though we are no longer together, and this was the perfect opportunity to send some family time.
We were given the opportunity to review the new Spring Menu at the Bar & Block Steakhouse in Kings Cross. Which is a great after work location; meet up with girlfriends, date night or for a bite to eat before you jump on the Eurostar which is only a 10 minute walk away from St Pancras station.
The cocktail menu is fab, I had to try a pop corn martini. They also have a candy floss martini which I will definitely be getting next time. Even better Bar & Block have half price cocktails Monday to Thursday between 5 – 7pm!!
We sat in a little booth where we could admire the hustle and bustle of the kitchen, whilst munching on beef flavoured popcorn. Which they need to start selling by the bag.
As a parent, I always worry if restaurants are accommodating to children. However, I did not need to worry as they were more than welcoming with kids colouring and crayons and a perfect children’s menu too! There is plenty to pick from and for only £6.50 you can choose from Veggie Sticks, a Main and Dessert and a choice of either apple or orange juice.
Our lovely waitress suggested we tried St Clair Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. I’m no wine expert but it was lovely, refreshing with a peach edge to it.
For main I went for hot-smoked salmon, which came with potatoes, peas, asparagus, green beans and rocket. Although it was a light meal it was very filling. T went for the Butcher’s Block, 10oz Picanha Steak topped with Chimichurri sauce served with chips and a side salad.
We just had enough space for pudding, Darcy had ice cream. I went for the Lemon and Clementine cheesecake which was lovely. T doesn’t have a sweet tooth so opted for cheese block which includes Cheddar, Brie and Stilton served with toasted bread, apple slices and honey. They were out of Brie so offered him a different cheese of his choice
All in all, it’s a great place for drinks with the girls or for lovely lunch spot with the family.
Have you been yet? What did you think?
