Bump And Beyond

What The Spice Girls Have Taught me*

When looking back to the 90s, there are few musical acts more iconic than the Spice Girls. The group came out of no where and dominated the charts with their catchy songs and lovable personalities. And let's not forget about all the mech, I had the impulse body sprays, posters, dolls and even a 3D Spice viewer.

To me The Spice Girls weren't just a good pop group with catchy songs, I admired everything about them, They were fun, unique, quirky, determined and inspiring.

Check out their latest advert with Walkers. The hunt has been on for the Spice Girls biggest fan leading up to the ad premiere. All will be revealed soon!!

Here are some things that the Spice Girls have taught me;

Love the skin you're in
Along with girl power and feminism, the Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Posh championed body positivity and being comfortable in your own body.

In Do It, a track from second album Spiceworld, they sang: "Who cares what care they say? Because the rules are for breaking… Come on and do it, don't care how you look it's just how you feel."

Friends grow apart, but you should never forget the good times you had together
As I got older, my circle of friends is smaller. Having a couple of close friends is much better than feeling like an outsider in a large group of people who don't reciprocate the same positive energy.

When the girls released the single Goodbye, they showed exactly how they felt about Geri's exit. "Goodbye my friend… So glad we made it, time will never change it."

Be Independent
They weren't just a group, they were five very different personalities who each brought something different to the table. Independence is something women should strive for: the ability to be self-sufficient and in charge of their own life.

Always have safe sex
The girls were very open about their sexuality, the girls were all about embracing people freedom to date as many people as they like. But they had a rule.

We all know the words to their second number one single 2 Become 1: "Be a little bit wiser baby, put it on, put it on. 'Cause tonight is the night when two become one."

So those were a few things which the Spice Girls have taught me. Were you a Spice Girl fan? How did they change your life?
