As a mum, I’m always on the lookout for food and drink options that are not only tasty and nutritious for my family, but also kind to the planet. So when we were kindly gifted two bottles of Chocoloato Oat and one bottle of Barista Whole oat milk from Oato, We couldn’t wait to give them a try – and I have to say, we were truly impressed!
Not only are Oato’s oat drinks creamy and delicious, they’re also doing their bit for the environment, which makes this eco-conscious mama very happy.
Why Oato Stands Out
What really sets Oato apart from other plant-based drinks is their dedication to sustainability. Their oat milk is made in the UK, and you can have it delivered right to your door by your local milkman in good old-fashioned glass bottles – how nostalgic is that? No plastic waste, no unnecessary packaging, just a cleaner, greener choice.
And for those who like to grab their oat milk while out shopping, you’ll be glad to know Oato is now available in supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, so it’s super easy to get your hands on.
The Chocoloato Oat Verdict – A Kid Favourite!
Let’s talk about the Chocoloato Oat first – it was an instant hit with us. It’s rich, chocolatey, and perfectly balanced – not overly sweet, which I really appreciate as I am not the biggest fan of chocolate flavoured things.
As Easter is just around the corner, we made the cutest little Chocoloato Overnight Oats topped with Mini Eggs, and they were chef’s kiss. Here’s the recipe if you’d like to recreate it:

2 tbsp plain yoghurt (plant-based or regular)

Handful of mini chocolate eggs, to top

In a bowl or two small jars, mix the oats, chia seeds, and Chocoloato Oat drink.

Barista Whole Oat – My Go-To for Iced Coffee
Now, let’s talk about the Barista Whole oat milk – it’s smooth, creamy, and foams beautifully. I’m a bit of a coffee lover, and this made the most dreamy iced coffee without any bitterness or separation you sometimes get with other plant milks, which I don’t know about you I find very off putting.
I whipped up this quick little iced coffee recipe using Barista Whole – it’s vegetarian-friendly and perfect for sunny spring mornings when you’re in need a caffeine fix!

Final Thoughts – A Mum-Approved, Sustainable Swap
We’re trying to make more sustainable choices as a family, and switching to Oato is one change that feels both easy and worthwhile. The glass bottles are not only recyclable – they’re reused, which is even better for the environment. Plus, supporting local milk rounds helps keep small businesses alive, which is something I truly value.
Whether you’re looking for a chocolatey treat for the kids or the perfect milk for your coffee, Oato has something for every household. The also have other flavours including strawberry milk and coffee if you do not want to be making your own. The fact that it’s made in the UK using British oats makes it a big win in my book too.
So if you’re on the lookout for a planet-friendly, family-approved oat drink, I highly recommend giving Oato a try – especially that Chocoloato one. Honestly, I think it might just become a fridge staple in our house!
