Getting the right amount of sleep is important as it’s how our bodies recharge and recover. When we don’t get enough, our thinking ability is impaired – concentration is reduced and other aspects of thinking are affected such as problem solving, memory, creativity, and judgement.

Inspiration
Breaks are also important for creativity. You can exhaust yourself and hit a block from over working. Time outdoors can reinvigorate your child’s creativity and help them do their best thinking.

Look for Creative Role Models
We can also be inspired by people. Exploring artists, musicians and other gifted people can have the same effect.

Engage in Arts and Crafts
Crafting gives children the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild. They can experiment and form their own, unique ideas and creations, exercising the right hemisphere of the brain.

Read Together
Having a deeper understanding of the world around them can help children to not only think of ideas but create even better ones. Books are great resources and can exercise creativity in many ways. As they read, they will begin to picture what’s happening and formulate their own theories as to what will happen next.

Modelling
