As the school holidays approach, it is usually a time for families to take a break from the usual routine they have adopted and escape on a holiday. However, with the current struggles with the economy and the cost of living crisis, travelling internationally is something that is seen as more of a luxury instead of a need. It is important to remember that it doesn’t matter where you go but who you are with when it comes to making great memories and having time off to unwind. Take advantage of the area that you live in and look closer to home for some fantastic getaways. Here are five staycation ideas for families to take part in these coming holidays.

1. Hire a holiday home close to you. Sometimes just the idea of being away from your house is what makes it feel like a real holiday. There are many places that you can go to such as the countryside or even these coastal breaks in West Sussex. The choice is completely up to you.

2. Have a spa day. this is an excellent way to get in a staycation whilst including the holiday feel. The best part is that they are really simple to do at home as well if you can’t get to a local spa. Ordering some bubble bars, face masks, essential oils and put together some relaxing activities. Finish it off with some relaxing music and a soothing beverage of your choice.

3. Camping. The outdoors is a remedy of its own, so spending time with nature in the middle of wilderness can be a great way to make some good memories.

4. Have an outdoor movie night. Set up some cosy blankets and pillows and ordering your favourite food whilst watching a good film in the great outdoors. Don’t forget to include your favourite people in this activity.

5. Stargaze. Look up some popular star gazing spots near you or simply head out into your back garden on a clear night. This is one of the most magical staycation ideas you can experience.
