How to Boost Your Child’s Imagination – If your child’s working on an essay or an important piece like their application for university, they may suffer from what is known as writer’s block. It’s a strange phenomenon where all of the sudden you’re uninspired or unable to think creatively. It can be a pain, especially when working to a deadline because you’re not sure when you’ll be hit with your answer.
Luckily, if your child’s in that position, we have some ways as to how you can help. We spoke with a boarding college in Wales that has seen many cases of creative block and here’s what they shared.
Child’s Imagination
One way that you can help your child to think innovatively is to just simply do nothing. Sit them down with the resources that they need and leave them to it. Sometimes having a set structure or task can be distracting. It can restrict us and stifle our creativity. That way they are able to create their own original ideas and learn about implementing them.
A Break
Sometimes you need to take a break from thinking. It is possible to overwork yourself and suffer from burnout. Actually taking a moment to think about something else and completely detach for a while can give you the opportunity to find inspiration elsewhere. Possibly even where you least expect it. They might decide to take a walk and spend some time outdoors to help.
Reading
Another idea is to take up reading. They may have since grown up from story time but it is no less important now that they are older. It can offer them new insights, perspectives and is how we can learn about the world which can help them in creating great ideas.
