You should book your removal company in advance, but some companies may offer special deals if you book far enough in advance. Research local removal companies to find the best deal. It may be worth seeing if you can wait until the autumn to move, as summer is a very popular time to move due to the longer and lighter days.
Get free packing material
Moving boxes can cost a fortune, ask friends and family if they have any spare boxes as they more than likely will have some laying about if they have recently moved. Put a seeking ad on Facebook Market place and Olio.
Once you know your moving date start collecting boxes from supermarkets, local shops and cafes. They will have boxes is various sizes from weekly deliveries which they will be happy for you to have for free.
Pack with care
Broken items during a move can be costly., if you are hiring a removal company make sure that they have insurance to cover any breakage that can occur during the moving process. when packing your plates, use bubble wrap to line the inside of the box. Wrap each plate in tissue paper and stack them vertically. Pack any gaps between the plates with paper and place bubble wrap on top of them before sealing the box.
